Charlie, I am inspired by the wisdom you carry as an elder. You pass your knowledge and experience so eloquently, compassionately and authentically. As Madonna has said, the Native Yoda. Sal, I appreciate your dedication, your solid connection to your tribe as Coastal Pomo, and sharing so much of what was passed down to you. All three of you work tirelessly to advance the lives of your tribes and the lives of all Native people. The work you have done has brought great challenges from both non-Natives and within the Native community. Yet, you persist with determination, purpose, deep care and regard and love for your people. Your compassion, wisdom, lived experiences and dedication are felt and have inspired me and earned the respect of many. It takes a lot of courage and fortitude to bring together and educate Natives and Non-Natives on such a brutal history that needs a lot of restorative work and healing.
Thank you for all you do, I appreciate you, and feel blessed to come to know all three of you.
-Paolo
